Responsible for the maintenance, operation, and growth of several distinct large, mixed-platform networks. User base of over 1000 sporting as many machines spread across one open and several isolated (classified) networks, including Xterms, various Sun workstations and servers (SunOS and Solaris), HP servers, SGIs, DECs, and occasional interaction with clients of a Novell/NT/Mac mixed network, particularly via a WinCenter server. Users consist primarily of professional programmers, engineers, and managers working on contracts for Raytheon customers. Tasks include maintaining the Internet firewall, programming system, network, and user-interface software, writing documentation and user guides, solving OS, software, and network problems, maintaining system security, installing and upgrading commercial and public domain software, helping with users' problems [operational, administrative, and engineering], and designing systems for development, production, and administrative purposes. Operated in a team environment with minimal supervision necessary except where higher authority was required. Promoted to Team Lead position December 3rd, 1999. As Team Lead, I have developed skills in managing other Unix SAs (roughly half a dozen). I am more personally responsible for coordinating with higher levels of management when new needs arise. This promotion came with some training, including interview, sensitivity, and interpersonal training by a professional educator (i.e - not internal).
